Corona Bloody Virus Extraordinary Episode 51: Adekola

I really enjoyed chatting to Adekola and I was veryhonoured to hear him perform a beautiful poem in this episode.

"Abdullah Adekola is a writer, performer, poetry promoter, and all-around creative based in Leeds UK.

He writes, performs and teaches poetry.

He believes people need hope and they need stories. 

He believes you should tell your story or risk being ignored or misrepresented

His style is playful, philosophical, and romantic.

He has had an immigrant experience and is a Black-British, working class artist.

He offers personal reflections and social commentary on identity, class, and faith

He is interested in decolonisation, self healing, masculinity, and the search for beauty, meaning, and connection in life and art.

Adekola leads a collective Leeds called Say It With Your Chest.


Say It With Your Chest deliver regular open mic nights, workshops, and have facilitated the development of a zine made by Leeds-based people of colour. 'People of Content'
